North Idaho Fly Casters

Falls Park Pond. On Saturday March 28, 1998, thirty-four volunteers completed the Falls Park fishing pond for children and the handicapped. Project tasks were staining the bridge decking, hand finish work on the grounds and debris removal form irrigation channel, rockery work, applying sand and bentonite mixture to seal the pond bottom, constructing four wheelchair fishing platform stations and planting wild rose bushes for bank erosion control. The Post Falls Parks District started this project. As the end of this project approached, the park district needed volunteer help to complete the pond. They approached NIFC for assistance in finish work around the pond. This allowed the club to bring in many members who had a variety of skills that complemented the needs of the district. At the end of project, Post Falls Park and Recreation Director, Dave Fair commented that the club completed more work in one day than he crew could complete in several weeks. The club later received a beautiful lithograph print of the pond signed by the artist and Post Falls community leaders. This put-and-take fishery is open to children and the handicapped exclusively.
