Fernan Lake Cleanup. NIFC participated in its 10th annual Fernan Lake shore clean-up on April 17, 1999. This involved walking the 5.5 mile shore line along the road and cleaning up the debris and trash left from the fall and winter fishing of people who do not feel it is their duty to clean up their fishing site. The Idaho Department of Transportation provides trash bags. 14 NIFC members met and walked the route, collecting over 400 pounds of trash. The situation is improving however, as in 1995 over 800 pounds of trash was removed from the shoreline.
