We Are The NIFC

Since 1977, the North Idaho Fly Casters Club has been dedicated to all facets of the sport of fly fishing by providing a wide range of educational, social and conservation opportunities to the fly fishing enthusiast.

Conservation

North Idaho Fly Casters have been involved with education from their very beginning in 1977.  Today, we continue to introduce our young people to the art and science of fly fishing.  Led by Education Chair Dave Londeree, the club has put on fly tying classes at Lakeland High in Rathdrum and Ramsey Elementary in Coeur d'Alene.

The North Idaho Fly Casters have been involved in conservation of our fisheries since its inception.  We have been previous winner of the International Federation of Fly Fishers prestigious McKenzie award for conservation activities in the Coeur d'Alene River basin.  We have participated in tree planting, fish tagging, fish counts, fishing access projects, improvement of public boat access, water quality improvements and regulation changes.  This year we will participate in the Moose Drool area reforestation after the removal of numerous logging roads that were endangering the creek.

Rivers

We consider our "home waters" the Coeur d'Alene River and the St. Joe River, but we frequently fish other great places.  Some of our regular trips are to the Clark Fork River in Montana, Columbia River in British Columbia, and the Locsha and Clearwater Rivers in Idaho.  In that regard, we have included links to these various opportunities through the USGS Water Data program.  These show the current and historical flows for the specific location on that river.
